Du Fu

China (Tang dynasty), 712–770. With Li Bai, the greatest poet of China, called the 'sage of poetry'; his grave, compassionate verse portrays war, famine and the suffering of the people. He wrote 'Spring View' during the An Lushan rebellion. His work is in the public domain.
