Florbela Espanca

Portugal, 1894–1930. One of the most intense voices in Portuguese poetry and a master of the sonnet; her sensual, grieving work sings of love, desire and solitude. Marked by tragedy, she took her own life on her thirty-sixth birthday. Her work is in the public domain.
