China (Tang dynasty), 701–762. The most celebrated of the Chinese poets, the 'banished immortal'; his verse joins wine, the moon and homesickness with a legendary freedom. 'Quiet Night Thought' is the poem every Chinese child learns by heart. His work is in the public domain.
