Lydia Koidula

Estonia, 1843–1886. The first major poet in the Estonian language and a voice of the national awakening; daughter of the journalist Johann Voldemar Jannsen, she signed herself 'Koidula' ('of the dawn'). 'Mu isamaa on minu arm' is sung at every Estonian Song Festival. Her work is in the public domain.
