Austria/Bohemia (Prague), 1875–1926. One of the greatest 20th-century poets in German; his work seeks the intensity of seeing and inner transformation. 'Der Panther', born before a cage in the Jardin des Plantes, is his most famous 'thing-poem'. His work is in the public domain.
