Đura Jakšić

Serbia, 1832–1878. Poet, painter and playwright, the great figure of Serbian Romanticism; bohemian and turbulent, he died poor at forty-six. His lyric verse joins nocturnal landscape and patriotic feeling. His work is in the public domain.
